ATTRACTIONS AT
FLAMINGO GARDENS

Champion Trees/Arboretum
Flamingo Gardens holds the distinction of having the largest collection of
towering Champion Trees in the region,
as designated by the American Foresty Assocation.
The Arboretum also includes hundreds of additional native and exotic trees,
accented with lush under-story plantings and a waterfall.

Butterfly and Hummingbird Gardens
These gardens host a variety of flowering plants and shrubs to attract many different species of butterflies and hummingbirds.
The Ruby Throat hummingbird visits Flamingo Gardens in the winter.  A seasonal area.

Tropical Plant House
A display of Orchids, Calatheas and other unique tropical plants.

Xeriscape Garden

This area demonstrates the uses of various materials appropriate for use in a low maintenance, minimal irrigation garden.
Our goal is to make it clear to the visitor that “Xeriscape” can include a wide variety of plants, native and exotic, creating an attractive landscape while not resorting to the wasteful use of water.


Everglades Free-flight Aviary
Walk through our 25,000 square foot Everglades free-flight facility housing one of the largest collections of wading birds in America. Five ecosystems are represented through the display of native plants.

The Wildlife Encounter
Live presentation featuring Florida’s native wildlife, such as birds of prey and reptiles and their relationship to the environment.
12:30, 1:30, and 2:30 weather permitting.

Bird of Prey Center
A showcase of South Florida’s rare birds in their naturalistic habitat. These birds are either at-risk or endangered and cannot be released because of injuries sustained in the wild.

Tour by Tram
Narrated tram ride through the tropical rainforest, native hammock, wetland area, and groves. The tour is fully narrated, lasting approximately 25 minutes.
Leaves every hour on the hour from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.



Flamingo Pond and Flamingo Cafe
A lush area for Caribbean Flamingos amidst
tropical vegetation and sparkling waterfalls.

At the Flamingo Cafe, visitors can enjoy
cool beverages, a meal or snack overlooking the Flamingo Pond with tranquil pink
Flamingos in their naturalistic environment.

River Otter, Bobcat and Panther Habitats
Natural habitats are home to Florida wildlife.

Alligator Lagoon

An educational exhibit of Florida’s native alligators.


Historic 1930s Wray Home
The original residence of our founders, Floyd L. and Jane Wray, built in 1933 remains a focal point of the Gardens. This building is registered with the Broward County Historical Commission and the State of Florida as an historic site.
Guided tours free with admission from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
