STORY TIME IN THE CHILDRENS GARDEN

Enjoy an outdoor reading of a children's story book every month in our new Children's Garden followed by a craft project! This month's story is "Oh Say Can You Say Dinosaur" by Bonnie Worth. After the story, the children will then make a dinosaur craft. Story Time is free with paid admission (or membership) to Flamingo Gardens. An adult must stay with the child during story time and the craft.

Panthers, and otters and bears oh my! Sign your kids up for a totally different and unique opportunity for campers who love nature, are intrigued by the inner working of plants & animals and are ready for a fun, hands on, interesting experience!
EcoEdventures Summer Camp is presented in partnership with Youth Environmental Alliance at Flamingo Gardens, and is geared to campers entering 1st to 5th grades. Learn about the plant - animal - human connection by exploring Flamingo Gardens and the Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary, building a worm bin and learning about composting, tending newly planted seeds and learn about plant propagation and photosynthesis. Explore the gardens to discover the difference between native versus exotic plants and wildlife and learn about pollinators. Learn how to fish and go fishing. Build a toy for the Black bear and panthers. Discuss the connection between wildlife and people, and feed otters. Learn about how each and every one of us can make a difference for wildlife, ourselves and the planet with CO2 Calamity Experiments. And don’t forget the joys of play!
COST: $225 for Flamingo Gardens Members/ $250 for non-members. Payment is due in full upon registration.

Youth Environmental Alliance is a 501c3 organization whose mission is to deliver education programs and facilitate participation in environmental activities to diverse persons of all abilities. YEA has been connecting children and the community to the outdoors, and empowering them to make a positive change in the environment and their lives since 2005.
CHANGES & CANCELLATIONS: If there are any changes to your reservations, please call us immediately at (954-473-2955 X 115.) Space in each camp is limited. To give other children the opportunity to attend, please call us with as much advance notice as possible in the event that your child needs to cancel.
Payment is due in full when you register your child for camp. 50% of the camp fee will be refunded in the event of a cancellation 10 days prior to camp start date. Cancellations made with less than 10 days notice are non-refundable.
WEATHER: We have both indoor and outdoor activities for the campers, so camp is on rain or shine!
SUGGESTED DRESS: comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor activities. Close-toed shoes are required; a change of clothes is recommended.
BRING: Please bring a “camp” cup (small non-breakable, with a closed handle), hat, rain poncho, sunscreen (apply, before camp), insect repellent, required medications (in original packaging); place items in a resealable bag with camper name written on the outside. Daily lunch, (water & snack are provided). Bring lunch daily. Please make sure that lunches are labeled.
BEHAVIOR: Campers are expected to treat the gardens and all its inhabitants with respect, follow the directions given them by camp staff and come, prepared to participate in the days program.
SAFETY: All of our camp teachers are experienced educators. To keep campers safe, we expect all children to behave and follow directions/ instructions at all time. Camp teachers reserve the right to dismiss a child from camp for disruptive, abusive, or inappropriate behavior.
PICK UP/ DROP OFF: A parent or guardian must arrive between 8:30am-9:00am and between 2:45pm and 3pm each day to sign children in and out of camp. Sign-in does not begin until 8:30 am. We will not release a child to anyone not listed on the pick-up permission form. Please drop campers at the back of the Gardens, and park in the administration parking lot, which is near the Meeting Room. Come into the Meeting room to drop off & pick-up your camper.
DIRECTIONS: I-95 North or South, to I-595 West, drive to Flamingo Road/Hiatus Road (Exit 2). Turn Left, Go South for 3 miles on Flamingo Rd. Turn Left on SW 36th. Flamingo Gardens is on the left side of Flamingo Road at 3750 S. Flamingo Rd, Davie, FL 33330.
