Discover the real "Pirates of the Caribbean" in this exhibit of actual shipwreck artifacts from the Age of Pirates including clothing, everyday items and weapons discovered in the Florida Keys.


Experience special "living history" presentations by Archaeologist and Historian Robert Feeney throughout the exhibition on the following dates:

Wednesday Lecture Series, October 10, 6:30pm
“Warfare During the Age of Sail” 
A look at the tactics and weapons from battles on the high seas. Lecture begins at 7pm.
Non-Members $10 per person, Flamingo Gardens Members $5 

Saturday and Sunday, October 13 & 14, 10am – 4pm 
"Age of Piracy" 
Meet Archaeologist and Historian Robert Feeney while viewing original artifacts from the Age of Piracy, with special presentation at Noon.
Included with regular admission 

Wednesday Lecture Series, October 17, 6:30pm 
“Shipboard Medicine During the Age of Piracy” 
Mercury, Superstition and Amputations: Learn about the techniques used to “cure” sailors, pirates and ocean-going merchants during the age of piracy. Lecture begins at 7pm.
Non-Members $10 per person, Flamingo Gardens Members $5 

Saturday and Sunday, October 27 & 28, 10am – 4pm 
“Wrecking and Shipwrecks in the Florida Keys” 
Meet Archaeologist and Historian Robert Feeney while viewing original artifacts from the Age of Piracy. Learn about the the history of shipwreck salvage in the Florida Keys from the first native inhabitants of Florida to the beginning of the age of steam power on the ocean, with special presentaion at noon.
Included with regular admission

“From the Bottom of the Sea: The Science Behind Underwater Archaeology” 
A behind the scenes look at how shipwrecks are found, mapped, studied, stabilized and conserved for preservation. Lecture begins at 7pm.

Saturday and Sunday, November 24 & 25- 11am – 3pm

Pirate Exhibit Closing Weekend 
“Life Below Decks: A look at Ship’s Provisions, Cargoes and Treasures” 
Meet Archaeologist and Historian Robert Feeney while viewing original artifacts from the Age of Piracy and get an in-depth look at what was considered “treasure” and what ships transported during the age of piracy. 
Enjoy a special living history presentation about the Age of Pirates by Feeney at Noon.
